  Christopher Stott

Chris Stott’s work is considered object portraiture, situating his subjects in neutral tones and emphasizing the light across the objects which often include vintage items. His paintings have simple yet graphical and bold compositions that emphasize the basic shapes of the objects, heightening them to almost iconic symbols open to the viewer’s own interpretation.

The artist was educated in Canada and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts with high honors at the University of Saskatchewan in 2003. He has had solo exhibitions in the United States and Canada. His work is included in private and corporate collections world-wide including the University of Saskatchewan and the private collection of Sen. John Edwards.

“I take my cues from various eras of painting including the interiors of Vermeer, the still lives of Chardin, and the realism of Thibaud. I am determined to continue studying my subjects, perfecting my technique, and enjoying every minute that passes.”
