John Cole Baker was born in 1961 in Salinas, California. His first sketches depicting his agricultural community were intense and perceptive, exhibiting both insight and skill far advanced for a child. Over the years, Baker developed both interests and aptitude in painting, sculpting, woodworking, and weaving. He eventually pursued a BFA from California State University Sacramento and set out to make a living as an artist. In 1988 Baker and six other artists opened the Prophetic Aesthetic Studio in Los Angeles and immediately gained the notice of the art world. His sculpture and works on paper and canvas appear in private and public collections across America and in several foreign countries.
